University Tests

Conclusions: It is concluded that the claims made for Insultec are fully justified. It is clear that thismembrane acts as a heat rejecting medium and one can expect that, if the roof of a building is coated with Insultec, then the interior of that building will be 10 C or more cooler than that of a similar building with a plain galvanized roof during the warmest part of the day.

I have become convinced of the remarkable properties of Insultec. This is in spite of the fact that I was most skeptical about the claims when I was first approached

Independent tests have confirmed the efficacy of Insultec in rejecting heat from buildings and that there is a lowering of temperature by as much as 15C below that for an unpainted surface. The tests in the laboratory and on exterior sites are consistent with one another.

Summary : Performance testing of the Insultec membrane on small steel buildings has shown
that a considerable reduction in the interior temperature is achieved.

…Insultec is such an effective solar heat insulator, … It is the author's belief that the overall thermal resistance of Insultec is in fact a result of complex non-linear coupling between the heat transfer mechanisms, predominantly radiation and conduction.

The Cool Schools, and later Cooler Schools program undertook upgrading of hundreds of schools in Queensland. Norco Roof Restoration estimated they painted approximately 470 school building roofs from Bowen to Torres Strait Islands.

Conclusions:
In summary, I was at first reluctant to accept the claim that buildings could be kept cool by a membrane of less than a millimetre thickness but tests that I supervised showed the claim to be true.
